Paulius - The Podcast

Hey everyone,

I'm pleased to announce the first (and only) 'Life, What The Hell is Going On?' Podcast is finally here.

Let me apologise for the quality of this, both in content and technical quality. In an effort to keep the download as small as possible, I got a little over-zealous when I compressed it, so you've got 15 minutes of audio, at less than 5meg.

I also tried to normalise the audio, and add a little bass boost.

It sounds like I'm talking through a sewer pipe.

Anyway, this was way to much work to even do on a weekly basis. Depending on the reaction, and if I can actually be bothered, I may do another one.

So, without further ado, here is the first Life, What the Hell is Going On? Podcast

(Quick hint, this is streaming audio. If you're on dial-up, it might be an idea to right click and 'save target as' to download the whole file (Or 'save link as', if you're on Firefox)).

Hope you enjoy!

Just listened to your Podcast. It seems we've had a recent, similar experience.

The other night I started an hours-long process on my PC. Shortly thereafter I received the notice that Windows had downloaded critical updates ...

I clicked "later" for more than an hour, whenever Windows asked if I wanted to reboot.

Finally I went to bed ... the hours-long process still running. Five minutes later I heard the "Windows is starting" sound.

Ah. I'd forgot about that 'feature.' Windows had rebooted itself.

Well, there's always tomorrow to restart the hours-long process.

Straight talking 101? I was thinking that you and I should co-teach at least masters level classes. Maybe our first lecture could be on the stupidity laws, and we could give tasers to the class graduates.

Hey, I just got a chance to listen to your podcast. Sorry I didn't listen sooner, I was celebrating Fat Italian Fascist Bastard Dictator Day.

I wouldn't worry about the sound quality, I think it was pretty good considering. I mean, I wasn't listening on headphones (which of course amplifies every little mistake) but from my PC speakers it sounded fine--no hiss and few if any plosive pops. Plus, I'll listen to anyone with a British accent.

By the way, with regards to the woman getting pissed about Harry Potter: Welcome to America. :)

Yep, I had a choice, run it through a dolby filter, get rid of most of the hiss, etc...the only problem was doing that really 'flattened' my voice.

Anyway, if I ever do another one, I'll make a slightly bigger file size, and I half know what I'm doing now. So it should be better (technically, that is, I'm making no promises for content).
