Well, today I finally heard from the UK Border Agency about Sunny’s Visa application.

It’s been denied.

They’re going to return Sunny’s passport along with all the original documents we sent, and we’ll get an explanation for the refusal along with an explanation of our appeal rights.

At this point, I can’t think of any reason why they’d turn it down, so I’m hoping we just missed out a document we were supposed to send, or didn’t check a box we were supposed to.

Right now I’m just trying not to worry until we know more. We’ll know in a couple of days exactly what’s going on…so I’m doing my best not to freak out until I know there’s something to freak out about.

It’s really pissing me off, thought. When I saw the email in my inbox, I went from a super-elated “YES! Finally” to “Oh….fuck.” in the space of five seconds.

Oh well…keep your fingers crossed for us and hope this is just a delay.

That just sucks!

Wow. that is surprising. It was super easy for me to get mine when I moved to the UK and if you have a green card / ILR, it is a reciprocal arrangement between the countries. There has been talk about making the guidelines tougher.

That really sucks.

So, you Tweeted that there wasn't enough proof that you were in a real relationship. What, exactly, do they consider to be acceptable proof? Does it involve pictures, letters? Or... video? Is it even legal to send that kind of video to a government official? Kidding, kidding! Hope everything turns out well!

Damn, that stinks. Why does everything to do with the government have to be so hard?
