Yup, I just saw a similar effect on TV and decided to see if I could reproduce it.
It would have been much better if my camera had an exposure lock setting and I actually took the time to frame-by-frame rotoscope my head instead of just using an oversized feathered mask.
Long story short, with a 500 dollar camera and four or five hours I could make this state of the art realistic.
Instead I used an RCA 'small wonder' camera and took about 20 minutes start to finish.
Well...it turned out a lot better than I thought it would...so I posted it.

That was really pretty good. And so much better than the effects in the movies I watched growing up (in the 60s).
